Transportation Info

Getting to New York

How can you get yourself to New York City? Here’s one good way: Fly into LGA, get a hotel in Midtown, and then hail a cab or take the train. For more details and options, keep reading.

Flying

LaGuardia airport is closest to Manhattan. Cab fares from LGA are metered and cost around $35 to Midtown. For just $2.75, you can get from LaGuardia to Manhattan (through Harlem and Morningside Heights) by taking the M60 SBS express bus — but the bus can be crowded and the trip takes about 45 minutes.

JFK and Newark airports are good airport alternatives — and are the primary destination for international flights, but ground transportation options cost more. Use the airport websites to explore your options and estimated costs.

If you’re heading to the airport directly after your visit, you can bring your luggage to our office and we’ll watch it for you during your tour. In Manhattan, you can hail a taxi to get you to LaGuardia, JFK, or Newark. In the Bronx, you will need to arrange a car service. During your visit, ask our receptionist for recommended car services and where they should pick you up.

Islip facility is 17 minutes (9 miles) from Macarthur Airport airport, more info at http://www.macarthurairport.com

Subway and Bus

Get a Metrocard and get yourself on the subway. To Lincoln Center, you’ll want to stop at the Columbus Circle station and walk one block northwest. To Rose Hill, stop at the Fordham Road station on the B/D line or the Fordham Road station on the 4 line and walk to campus. The campus is six blocks from the B/D station and 10 blocks (about 1 mile) from the 4 station. If you don’t want to walk, get on a Bx12 local bus or an Bx12 SBS express bus and hop off at Fordham Plaza.

Train

The train is the easiest way to get to our Rose Hill campus, particularly during rush hour or bad weather. The Metro-North commuter rail Harlem line heads north from Grand Central Terminal (42 St and Park Ave) or Harlem (125 St and Park Ave) and stops at the Fordham Road station right on the corner of our campus. Fares vary by time of day, but are typically $6 to $9 for travel within the City.

Driving and Parking

Since the Bronx mailing address for our Rose Hill campus brings you to a non-vehicular entrance, you must trick your GPS by using 2691 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY 10458. That’s an unofficial address near our main entrance and our parking garage. On-campus parking is free for guests of the Undergraduate
Admission Office.

If your GPS system doesn’t allow you to input a ZIP Code, you may need to manually input your destination to ensure proper directions. Be sure to visually confirm your destination on your GPS device’s map. Our vehicular entrance is to the north of the Southern Blvd and Fordham Rd intersection, and is directly across the street from one of the entrances to the New York Botanical Garden.

At Lincoln Center, you’ve got quite a few parking options nearby, and some offer a discount.

Ram Van

Seeing both our campuses? Once you get yourself to either of our campuses (see options above), we can provide transportation between them on our Ram Van inter-campus shuttle service. When checking in for your visit at the Undergraduate Admission Office, ask for additional instructions and complimentary roundtrip tickets. The Ram Van departs every half hour from each campus and the ride between them takes approximately 30 minutes.

Since current Fordham students always have priority, we aren’t able to make Ram Van reservations for our visitors. When you’re ready to use the shuttle, go to the pickup location and get on the next van’s list. If a shuttle is full, you may need to wait for the next scheduled ride. Also, if our office isn’t open or otherwise able to provide free passes for the Ram Van (for example, during most weekends), you will need to purchase individual tickets for $3.50.
